1. What are the two sides in the argument over "sanctuary cities"? People who support Trump generally support stricter immigration policies and thus want to restrict or even outlaw sanctuary cities while the opposition now finds sanctuary cities more important than ever in the context of the current administration's stance on immigration. 2.  1. What exactly does the ACLU advocate for? This group defends free speech rights for everyone regardless of what message they intend to convey in their speaking. 2. How did the ACLU get involved in Charlottesville? The city of Charlottesville wanted to take away demonstration organizer Jason Kessler's protest permit, and the ACLU successfully defended him in court saying revoking the permit would violate his right to free speech, especially since the counter-protesters' rally was still approved. 3. Why have liberals increasingly backed the ACLU in the last year? Donald Trump was elected as the president, and the ACLU vowed to hold him and his administration accountable by law.
